Our Mission is to inform the community of the urgency of our heartfelt concerns for Thomasville/Thomas County's need for a Children's Advocacy Center, providing specialized services for young sexually assaulted and abused victims. It is vital to the well-being of our children that we continue to move forward and not stand still. "Our mission will be accomplished when every child is free from sexual assault and abuse, for we know that how we respond today will last a child a lifetime!"
What is a Children's Advocacy Center? A place of safety where victimized children of heinous crimes of sexual assault and abuse can be interviewed and examined in an atmosphere designed with children in mind... Providing a "Specialized Sexual Assault Forensic Team" trained from different agencies of the community that respond sensitively to the children whose rights have been disregarded. Cases of child sexual assault and abuse are serious crimes, that requires are upmost attention without error. We are asking for your support to become an active child advocate for the children of Thomasville/Thomas County by giving us a chance to provide services that are not available in our community for sexually violated children. Won't you please consider helping us to prepare such a place for these wounded children that they can have their own facility with up-to-date equipment, and advanced procedures for obtaining forensic evidence collected by on/call expert forensic professionals trained in this particular field?
Our Success of a Child Advocacy Program for reported cases of sexually assaulted and abused children of Thomasville/Thomas County greatly depends on the knowledge, and expertise of law enforcement, child protective services, and the medical professionals. As well as the support that these forensic investigators, interviewers, and pediatric sexual assault examiners receive from not only the leaders in their command, but the active role that our community responds as a whole. Georgia ranks 47th in the NATION in the number of children experiencing abuse and neglect. These statistics are unacceptable and children need your help! "Can I really make a difference?" You can, and the CHILDREN are counting on you! Each of us have a responsibility to take the initiative to get involved in projects that will benefit a child's life in our community. Please learn to explore the vast opportunities that you can do to make an impact. As a society we all have schedules and work loads that are sometimes too demanding, that the children's needs (not wants) continue to be left on the back-burner. Many of us have become puppets on strings, shutting out muffled cries of violated children. ONLY YOU CAN STOP IT! Today, won't you give the time to create, make, and implicate plans to start helping change a child's life for the better? If you aren't willing, who then?
In Recognition of all abused children and surviors of childhood abuse in hopes that this website will be some source of encouragement for you. If you or someone that is close to you has been faced with the life altering devastation of child abuse; I want to say I am truly sorry. Allow yourself the time to grieve for your loss, because this tragic experience does not only wound its victim, but leaves its scars for the entire family. I wish there was a magical phrase that would cause such a burning desire to melt the hearts of responsible adults to do more, but the fact is, many will never understand your pain, the confusion, the mistrust, and the unanswered questions of "Why?" There is no way you can carry this burden alone, nor should you.Your local church should be the number one resource for strength, and support through prayers. Sometimes writing a journal may be a valuable tool as a venting outlet to channel strong emotions, while remembering that you must strive to be the best you can be through it all and appreciating your own self worth. Supporting leaders that express genuine compassion and sensitivity on these issues as the secrecy is exposed and that more of them become involved in supporting and advocating for children. Our hope is in believing through shared experiences and having faith that our influences can improve the justice system for victimized children.
